A Trip Across a Long Scary Bridge

  1. There’s a bridge something like that near where I live. It’s an exhilarating experience, crossing it in a high wind with a 150 pound pack on your back.

Convincing yourself to cross back is sometimes a bit of a problem.

  2. Yeah, that’s if you make it across the first time.

  3. I have to admit, a couple of times I just sat there and looked at it for a long, long time before I ventured across. All I remember thinking is that no real bridge should ever be ‘V’ shaped.

  4. I have a fear of heights. There is no way I would ever cross that bridge.

  5. I’ve learned you can suddenly develop a fear of heights, a fear of flying and a fear of enclosed spaces as you age.

That surprised the hell out of me!

You can still ‘suck it up’ and function — but it ain’t easy.

  6. MaryJane Hopper Says:

Do you think I would make it across in my wheelchair!!

  7. Just go fast enough the wheels never touch the bridge — and watch out for wind shear, MJ!
